INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Applications Programmer
Salary:  £20 - £30k pro rata

Essential Functions:

-  Field incoming problem tickets from end users to resolve application issues.
-  Provide support to management for extracting relevant operational data from the existing database(s).
-  To design and code new modules of software, working within the Software Development Plan and guidelines set down by the Project Manager.
-  To train users in the use of new software – including the production of supporting documentation and help files.
-  To roll out implementation of the system to new users (may involve some overseas travel).
-  Communicate application problems and issues to key stakeholders, including management, end users and departmental leaders.
-  Test fixes and perform post-resolution follow-ups to ensure problems have been adequately resolved. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

-  Proven experience of SQL (any flavour) – at least one-year intensive use.
-  Broad knowledge of programming languages and techniques with PHP and HTML being specific skills that would apply.
-  Able to develop and interpret technical documentation for training and end user procedures.
-  Knowledge of trends in technology relating to software development.
-  Experience with building and maintaining databases.
-  Excellent written, oral, interpersonal and presentational skills.
-  Ability to conduct research into software development and delivery concepts, as well as technical application issues.

To manage and resolve Oracle Application Faults and System Services requests logged with the Applications Service Desk in support of sites globally.

Key Activities:
