General Manager

Position will involve:-
-  To ensure that monthly and annual sales targets are met as a minimum.
-  To actively and progressively increase the sales revenue targets.
-  Ascertain if there are any products and/or services that the company should have in its portfolio.
-  Ensure sufficient resources are available for UK sales, marketing and operations activities.
-  Submit UK sales, marketing and operations reports for the board monthly.
-  Prepare UK sales, marketing and forecasting report monthly.
-  Preparation of price lists, proposals, quotations and tenders as required.
-  Input into sales and marketing material for the Company.

Essential:-
-  Minimum 5 years management experience within the oil and gas service sector.
-  Competence in a range of oil and gas well down-hole operations, in drilling, or completions or well services.

Preferred:-
-  10 years management experience in the oil and gas service sector.
-  Competent in a range of oil and gas well down-hole, in drilling, cementing and liner hanger installations.

Position will involve:-

Overview:

Commercial Support Executives operate in a high-profile, deadline-driven, demanding environment.   They are in regular contact with executive management, functional and contract management and other senior personnel in Operations.  Working closely with the Sales Force, Senior Management, Estimating and Legal/Commercial Groups, they help formulate bidding and execution strategies: and are responsible for the organisation, production and timely delivery of persuasively-written, responsive bids.  Post-bid submissions, Business Development Support Executives organise the response to requests for clarification, manage client presentations and take part in negotiations.  Business Development Support Executives also undertake pre-qualification work and provide market intelligence.

The scope of work is varied and covers the complete spectrum of production facilities activities anywhere in the world.  It is anticipated that Executives will progress through the Business Development Support Group to positions of Project, Contract and Country Managers.

Candidates should have an engineering background and have moved into, or have a desire to move into, a business development position.  Potential candidates may also come from the project manager, project engineer or senior engineer talent pool.

Education:

-  Preferably degree qualified in an engineering or other discipline.
-  Ideally a post-graduate management qualification, eg an MBA.

Attributes, skills and experience required:

-  5 years + career experience in the industry, giving exposure to all types and values of contracts in the international oil and gas, chemical and petrochemical and/or power plant sectors.
-  Management and successful delivery of Contracts/Projects in a performance based environment.
-  Experience of the preparation of proposals for major capital projects and/ or major services contracts.   Consideration will be given to people at management level from functions who have a strong input to high value proposals, e.g. project controls and planning, construction, engineering, maintenance and operations, and business development.
-  Ideally, experience of Business Development and proposals management in the oil and gas sector.
-  A good understanding of commercial issues.
-  Language skills would be a distinct advantage.

Roles and Responsibilities

- The role of the position is to manage our clients Business Unit in Baku.
-  To source business opportunities occurring in the oil and gas industry  and to convert those opportunities into viable commercial contracts.
- To organise and develop the resources of the Business Unit in a safe and efficient manner.
- To execute the plans for the development of the business approved by the board.
- To supervise, direct and control the co-ordination and allocation of all operational activities, in full compliance with all HSE and operating procedures.
- To coach and develop national staff to a level where they can perform these roles.
- Report progress and all matters of significance to the Board.

The post holder is responsible for maximising the profitability of the Business Unit, having due regard for the health and safety of staff, and the quality and comprehensiveness of the Business Unit's performance.

The post holder is responsible for the efficient co-ordination, allocation and control of all Company contracted and owned plant and equipment, operators and labour; full compliance with all HSE and operating procedures; assessing staff competencies and implementing changes when required.

The post holder is responsible for providing support for the commercial and business development requirements of other Business Units, as requested.

Key Skills

- A minimum of 10 years experience in upstream Oil and Gas operations; preferable in offshore and onshore logistics operations.
- General management of small to medium enterprises; preferable overseas.
- Fluency in English language.  Competency in Russian language; highly advantageous.
- Ability to identify priorities, co-ordinate resources and manage the performance of operations activities.
- Ability to develop and motivate his team.
